Brief Description:

GIDDING (STEEPLE), a parish in the hundred of LEIGHTONSTONE, county of HUNTINGDON, 6 miles (S.W. by S.) from Stilton, containing 93 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Huntingdon, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £8.17.8½. J. Heathcote, Esq. was patron in 1807. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew.

The parish of Steeple Gidding was originaly in the Huntingdon Registration District from 1st July 1837. Subsequently it became part of the Sawtry sub-District. From 1st April 1997, it once again is directly under the Huntingdon Registration District.
